Plook Ganja App: How to Legally Grow Weed in Thailand

1 Mins read

What is Plook Ganja App?

Plook Ganja or (“ปลูกกัญ”) literally means “Plant Cannabis” is a mobile app and website developed by The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for weed growers. Since June 9, 2022, the sole requirement for legally cultivating cannabis and hemp plants at home in Thailand is registering to the app without asking for permission.

Note: All components of the marijuana and hemp plants have been delisted as narcotics as of last June 9, according to the Ministry of Public Health, except extracts containing more than 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol aka THC, which are still classified as prohibited category 5 drugs.

Are non-Thai citizens eligible to apply through the ‘Plook Ganja’ app?

Despite having heard rumours to the contrary, registration is reportedly only available to Thai nationals as it requires a Thai ID number. We urge non-Thai citizens to speak with their local government and an attorney before beginning the procedure. If you have more questions about growing cannabis legally in Thailand, you may consider visiting the provincial public health office.
